Wedding Dress: What’s in a colour?
Why are brides-to-be so fearful of colourful wedding gowns? Most think it means impurity to not wear white on your wedding day. Actually the past tradition was not actually about the gown but instead about the veil. More specifically the length of the veil. A virgin bride would cover her full face and neck. Today the veil still represents innocence, and modesty.
More brides opt out of the tradition wearing veils of all lengths and colours, or not wearing a veil at all. Thankfully the wedding dress is shifting from the all traditional white to. White wedding gowns are gorgeous but colour can be just as beautiful.
Let's explore the colourful wedding gown:
Touch of Black
From Left to Right: Venus Bridal – ve8025 | Sophia Tolli - Peony
Love the colour black? Well why not incorporate it into your wedding dress. With the right theme a touch of black is just what is called for. If you're daring enough to go all black opt for a ball gown or an haute couture gown as they give the right amount of oomph for your wedding day.
Champagne
From Left to Right: San Patrick – Enea | Esmirna
Champagne can be a great alternative to the stark white. It's much softer and subtle, great for a intimate and romantic affair.
Champagne is also a great pair with a bold colour. Don't be afraid to accessories with a great belt or sash.
Flower Power
Jade Daniels - 2082
Flowers, flowers, and more flowers. Yes the all beautiful floral pattern can be used for a wedding gown. Great for a princess feel, and even better if worn in the spring.
Pair it with a bold colour shoe and a flower in the hair and you'll wow everyone when you walk down the aisle.
Silver
From Left to Right: Destinations by Mon Cheri – 110147 | Christianne Brunelle

Red is very bold and extremely beautiful. It makes a statement and is worn best if your wedding theme offers a neutral palette.
Pick a more neutral colour for your bridesmaids and decor. Go without a veil or try a blusher.
