Well this has been a long time coming! I have actually had quite a few people request Wedding Inspiration for A Game of Thrones or A Song of Ice and Fire.. but do to a busy schedule I never got around to it. Then the show got in the way.. I just couldn't think clearly when it came to what I wanted to do. Alas the show has come to an end and the new book has yet to be released so I thought this was the perfect time to post some GOT/ASOIAF Wedding Inspiration while there was little to distract my vision. And a vision it is. I wanted to give just enough old world fantasy and a modern edge twist. Some overt references like Dragon Egg Macaroons and some subtle intrigue like an "obsidian" (black gold) engagement ring with a pink "sapphire" stone. HAPPY FRIDAY! TGIF! Looking outside we can see that fall is slowly coming to an end. Yes after the tricks have been played and the treats have been eaten we start to get in to the feeling of winter. Colder weather stores beginning to stock the Christmas items. But we couldn’t end fall on the blog without a little fall wedding inspiration. While browsing through facebook a while ago I came across this very cute picture of a precious kitten engulfed in leaves. To me this picture is the epitome of fall. Specifically the colours. More specifically when I think of fall I think of the falling leaves in rich reds, yellows, oranges, and browns.. which of course is what most would think of.. but I also think about the little pops of sunlight we get with rich blue skies, or how all colours pop against the muted tones of the everyday fall light. Have you noticed that when we get to fall the landscape around you gives a more beige/grey feel.. colours really pop against this neutral back drop. ...

Happy Friday! Were back with more of our Superhero Mini-Series ! This week ‘The Hulk’. Now I now some of my readers checked out the newest Avengers movie right?? My favourite character had to be Hulk. Mark Ruffalo did an amazing job. So it got me thinking about how I would transform the split personality of the shy but brilliant scientist with the rugged but sweet monster hulk. Well…. I added a little science, a lot of green, and some extra rugged nature on top. This is also a great way to combine the two personalities of the couple getting married. Take a little bit of each and something you both love… make the thing you both love the most prominent (like green in the hulk inspiration below) then add in hints of the thing you each like separately (like science and ruggedness below). This allows both of your visions and personalities to shine through on your wedding day. Happy Friday to all! Before we get into our superhero inspiration mini-series, I thought we would commemorate the new warm summer weather with a Victorian inspired summer wedding. The Victorian era allowed for such dainty femininity! Soft but rich colour palettes, the subtle incorporation of floral in appliques and centrepieces. A wonderful friend of mine, Niura Schwartz, introduced me to a beautiful composed image of a Bird of Paradise… of course I had to ask if I could use this photo for my next Inspiration Friday. The Bird of Paradise is said to be the ether of life. But being a wedding blog of course we love the alternative meaning which is “marriage” itself. It is said that the distinct colours of the Birds of Paradise connect and fuse like a husband and wife once married. Birds of Paradise come in many species each with it’s own distinct colour pattern. The male uses these colours in correspondence with it’s fluffed feathers and interesting dances to entice the females.
