Bridal Gown Monday: Fit for Royalty
Happy Bridal Gown Monday!!! What a weekend filled with Royal Wedding News! Although I was not following the wedding prior to the big day I did watch the wedding… and I must say it was gorgeous and romantic despite it being so public. It was even a little intimate… I know I was shocked too!
So I thought I would do a blog post on the great fashion from engagement announcement to the wedding day. I also included some decor and yummy desserts!
The Engagement Announcement:
Kate looked ravishing in her blue Issa London gown showing of her Gorgeous engagement ring!
And if you haven’t seen the gorgeous photos that the newly Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took for their engagement you simply have to check them out. They are romantic and effortless. And Catherine is in the Nanette dress by REISS.
The Wedding Day:
Kate’s simple and extremely elegant wedding gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. The vintage feel lace on the shoulders, the sexy sweetheart neckline, and the full skirt with cathedral train was simply stunning and very Kate! Adorned with a 1936 Cartier Tiara lent to her by the Queen and diamond set stylized oak leaf earrings with a little diamond acorn dangling in the center. The acorn a symbol of the Middleton Coat of Arms.
And to party Kate surprised us with another beautiful “very her” wedding gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. A stunning diamond belt for that extra pop and a cute fur throw pulled the outfit together.
And we can’t forget…
The gorgeous Pippa Middelton in her maid-of-honor gown by Alexander McQueen, fashioned from the same fabric as her sister’s dress. And her evening gown designed by London designer Alice Temperley.
Wedding Decor:
The decor for the ceremony at the Wesminister Abbey was also beautiful! Trees lined the aisles and greenery covered the front accentuated with gorgeous white flowers!
And the bouquet quaint and very fitting:
The official information from Clarence House states:
The wedding cake was a multilayered fruit cake with cream. Covered with Kate’s 'language of flowers' list. Let’s not forget the groom for his groom’s cake looked very delicious and manly. It was their very own Chocolate Biscuit recipe. Cakes designed by Fiona Cairns.

And the bouquet quaint and very fitting:
The official information from Clarence House states:
The bouquet is a shield-shaped wired bouquet of myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, sweet William and hyacinth. The bouquet was designed by Shane Connolly and draws on the traditions of flowers of significance for the Royal Family, the Middleton family and on the Language of Flowers. And last but far from least the wedding cakes:
The flowers’ meanings in the bouquet are:
The bouquet contains stems from a myrtle planted at Osborne House, Isle of Wight, by Queen Victoria in 1845, and a sprig from a plant grown from the myrtle used in The Queen’s wedding bouquet of 1947.
- Lily-of-the-valley – Return of happiness
- Sweet William – Gallantry
- Hyacinth – Constancy of love
- Ivy: Fidelity; marriage; wedded love; friendship; affection
- Myrtle: the emblem of marriage; love.
